Australian Country Tours

About Us

Hosts Robert and Jane are Australian country people; we live it and we love it.

Robert is a grazier from Muckadilla (west of Roma), knows horses, sheep and cattle like the back of his hand, understands the land and its people and speaks the language of the outback. He is full of yarns that are often incredible – like the time his mate turned up to help him muster the sheep and he said “But where’s your horse??” A whistle from his mate and the horse poked his head over the side of the ute, where he had been lying obediently for the 40km drive.

For many years Robert bred thoroughbred horses and was even a racehorse trainer for a while. Animal husbandry and bush knowledge are deeply embedded in his psyche. Dig and you will enjoy sharing them with him.

Jane grew up on a farm just east of Dalby. She was involved in establishing the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame (www.outbackheritage.com.au), working closely with the legendary RM Williams for many years.

She worked in the outback as both a stockman and a station cook, did endurance riding as a hobby in her mad youth, and also loves the language of the outback. That being said, she has travelled extensively around the world, most recently with Robert. Between them they understand what makes a special travel experience, such as meeting the locals.

Jane is the author of 2 published books, Slippin’ on the Lino and In Stockmen’s Footsteps.

Hospitality is germane to country people and Robert and Jane enjoy nothing more than sharing their love of their outback with visitors. They are flexible and accommodating, and will tailor your group tour to suit your interests and needs.
